Oklahoma United Gospel Music Association Inc. (OUGMA )
About
OUGMA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization promoting gospel music concerts in the Oklahoma City metro area. OUGMA was incorporated in 1994 with contributions from a group of Yukon Oklahoma businessmen. OUGMA promotes gospel music concerts of all types and provides an opportunity for local talent to develop and gain exposure. There are currently over 80 regional talent groups calling OUGMA their home away from home. OUGMA typically sponsors one concert a month and has been doing so for years at various venues. Most recently, OUGMA will sponsor concerts at Yukon Fine Arts Auditorium with a capacity of over 2900.

OUGMA’s first concert was on March 3, 1994 featuring the Lester's from St. Louis, Missouri. Another early program was held in the Yukon High School Fine Arts Auditorium and was called “Legends Of Gospel”. The talent for that program included J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, Hovie Lister and the Statesmen Quartet, James Blackwood and the Blackwood Quartet, Jake Hess and a very popular local group named The McLaughlin Bothers.
Other Legends concerts were held in the Yukon Fine Arts Auditorium and one at First Baptist Church (Del City). By the 5th Legends concert Hovie Lister was the only one of the Legends still Living. The Last Program was on Thanksgiving weekend and Hovie Passed away the following December 28,2001.
